New Year

I'm not keeping any resolutions because I never stick with them anyway. I can't even keep a one-month short term goal that I started when Christmas break began [which were: keep a blog every day, lose 10 more lbs, make cupcakes for Christmas, stretch and exercise more, and I think there was another but I can't remember.]

All goal keeping does is piss me off and make me grumpy.

And so do some friends and family sometimes.

ugh. whatever.

December 28, 2009

hm

Fail.

a) it's hard to remember to make a bloggity blog everyday.
and b) it's dull around here anyway, with school being out and stuff so there's nothing fun to write about anyway.

But here's a quick update:

Christmas was fun.. Got lots of fun stuff. My most favorite thing I got is the PSPgo system [except mine is white]

I wanted the old PSP, frankly for the fact that it was cheaper and I knew that Christmas was gonna be on a tight budget this year, but my stepmom said that they were sold out of that one so she just upped and got the bamf new one. It's pretty cool, it flips open and it's really portable-friendly because it's so small. I think the best part is that instead of having to go fight all the little kids at Best Buy and WalMart to buy games, you just download them straight onto the 14GB console from the PSP network through wifi. That is very nice, for me in particular, because I'm retarded and lose stuff so easily anyway and with that you don't have to keep up with all the little [and breakable] disks. If I'm lucky enough for my internet to hold out, I'll have The [unrated] Hangover downloaded in another...... 64 minutes. That's the only thing that I have to gripe about it PSPgo. Download time sucks ass. For a typical game to download, and I'm talking, like, more than 100MB, it takes about 10 minutes to download and 5 more to install. Which isn't terrible, but it is kind of a pain. Movies, however, are much larger than 100MB (try 1000+) and therefore take for effing ever. Like now.

It's kind of silly and stupid, whatever you wanna call it, but if I may be down to earth honest, the biggest reason I wanted a PSP is because you have the options of getting the old games from the original PlayStation One. Since mine went awol a few years back and I was feeling nostalgic to the point of being sick, I really really really really wanted to be able to play the old Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot.

And I have been for the past couple of days and I'm a happy little girl now. :]

I got a bunch of other random things.... like a Ped-Egg. Hey, at least I'll have soft feet... if I ever get over the idea of taking a grater to my feet and collecting the shavings in a little egg shaped container and then throwing up. I mean throwing them out. ;] And it has a handle too, so at least we got that going for us.....

I also got the Wii Active game... I mean I guess it's a game, but it's a bunch of workout stuff. Which I need awfully bad right now because I have been a complete glutton for the past week and I need to get back on my diet and exercising and stuff. I don't think tonight was very proactive with chicken alfredo, then krystal's on the way home and then 2 pigs in a blanket after I got home.... Jesus, that sounds terrible. Anyway, back to the Wii Active. It's pretty cool so far. There's a 30 day challenge thing where you do it every day for 30 days and it gives you new workouts everyday. It's things like walking/running in place for 2 minutes, squats, lunges, jump squats (ouch...), annnd... idk, a bunch of things to pick from. I actually did start that today and did two workouts. I'm liking it better than the Wii Fit because the Wii Fit requires too much coordination and coordination is not my strong point. And that goddamn board that comes with the Wii Fit is a scale, which I did not know until I stepped on it and it told me to get off. Not really, but I did do it in front of Tori and it did my BMI and stuff and added about 70 lbs to my avatar and it was quite embarrassing. So, Wii Active> Wii Fit.

Annnnnd yeah. Besides the few other not-as-exciting gifts, that was Christmas in a nutshell.

It was pretty swell and all, but I'm ready to go back to school now. For one reason, I'm thinking that being back on a regular schedule will help me get back on my dieting track. Schedules make me a happy girl. Another reason is that I'm quite bored during the day, even with Spyro and Crash. And sweating my fatass to death on the Wii. Granted I'm not thrilled about reading Aristotle and St. Thomas Aquinas, at least it's something to do.

I dun really know what else to write about now. I just sneezed about seven times in a row. It's getting down into the 20's tonight. I'm really gonna try to get up at a decent hour tomorrow. I wonder what kind of workouts are coming up next. I'm really thinking about going and getting me a cheap juicer from target or something and making me fruit and veggie juices. I'm kind of rambling on right now. I'm gonna go make a list of something. Lists and schedules... it's porn for OCD people.

LIKE ME!
:]

Crappit

I didn't do a blog yesterday. Again.

Ahhh phooey.

I'm baking a pecan pie right now. :]

Next time I'm altering the recipe because I thought of something halfway through it's baking process. I'm gonna add cinnamon sugar on top of it next time.

:]

mmmmmm smells like Christmas!

December 22, 2009

hearts, stars, & horseshoes, clovers & blue moons

Okay so I got sidetracked yesterday and never got back to what I was talking about and I don't really remember what the rant was about anyway.

Except the one about my grades. The thing that made me the most frustrated was my grade in Biology. Granted a C+ is, like, two points from a B [first frustration], the fact that I studied the hardest for that final and got 146/200 [which is a 73ish]. Aside from trying to be disciplined and giving up FaceBook for a few days, on the eve of the final I stayed up until 2:30am doing nothing but studying then woke up at 5:00am to study for another hour and a half. For what? To earn a C and potentially cost the difference between a B- and a C+. It's like wasted effort.

Then at WW, I was up +1.6 lbs. Which is not something to beat myself up over because I'm still down a total of 16.6 and I've already admitted to myself that I did terrible over the week and that it should be no surprise and that I deserved that. And I've been good all day today.

I am absolutely, unbelievably relieved that all of my Christmas shopping is almost done. ALMOST. I still have to get 2 photo albums, a picture frame, and a CD tomorrow. The rest of them are getting gift cards.

"Sorry for being impersonal this year, guys, but one reason why I hate Christmas is because I hate shopping for everyone and it's always expensive."

I actually told my sister that. But it's how I feel and I shouldn't have to keep that bottled up. But then again, that's why I have this little box to type and type and type and rant all my little heart desires about everything!

Oh and I found out that the brothers and sisters and cousins are all spending the night after all [except for maybe two of them, but they never want to play games anyway.] So it was just a typical miscommunication that goes on in this family that cause that little blip.

Yep. kaybye.

December 21, 2009

Warning: This may be epic in length

Cause I have a lot on my mind.

First of all, Happy Monday.

There's only four days left until Christmas but I have no excitement about it left at all. I found out today from the housekeeper that on Christmas Eve, it's definite that none of my brothers and sister are going to be spending the night at home this year. No bored games. No matching pajamas. No spirit. Instead, a friend of the family is going to be staying in one of the bedrooms and my step-ex-whatever aunt is staying in the other. Pretty sure both of them are over 50 and go to bed early. The only person I would imagine would potentially spend the night is my unmarried sister... But then again, I can't even depend on her at WW. She's skipped the last 3 weeks and I'm betting she won't be there tonight. And she's missed two of my weight loss celebrations. [At WW, there's a celebration for every 5 lbs. you lose... You get a gold star [[I know, exciting!]] to put on a bookmark and accumulate them on there. You also celebrate for losing 5% of your total weight and 10% of your total weight.] She missed my 5% and 15lb. mark.

Senior year, Ms. Derricks always had a saying that went something like, "There's nothing certain or dependable in life except death and taxes." I can't depend on traditions, I can't depend on people, I can't depend on myself.

Whatever.

So like I said before, the weekend was eventful. I guess. I mean I spent at lot of time around everyone but we just didn't really do much. Friday night, we were all supposed to go to Seve's condo thing in downtown Atlanta, but everyone backed out and it ended up just being me, Red, Jon, and Seve going. I drank my whole bottle of wine because Friday was the day that we got grades [which is another thing I have to rant about] and I just felt like taking out my anger and disappointment on my liver. We watched GI Joe and I have no idea what it was about and how it went. Then me and Red left around 1 and went back to his house. We stopped at McDonald's and then had to pull into a Toys 'R Us parking lot because we both had to pee and I must say, I've never had to pee outside like that before. Doing it tipsy made it even more fun. So we got home and that was Friday.

Saturday I woke up with full intentions to get all of my Christmas shopping knocked out. I picked up Tori and we went to Lenox mall and I seriously thought I was gonna slap somebody at some point. Every single rude shopper in Atlanta was there that day. So after 20 minutes of searching for a parking spot and about 45 minutes of walking a mile an hour behind all the slow mall walkers and being pushed and shoved, I wanted to leave and there wasn't really anything there that I wanted anyway. So we went to Northlake and I got Red his PJ bottoms that he wanted, and that's it. One reason I don't look forward to Christmas is because I hate shopping for people because I never know what to get them. Especially my family. I'll come back to that though. So we left Northlake and went to Michael's and I saw that all of their Christmas decorations and ornaments were on sale for very cheap. I got a few boxes of ornaments to put on the tree at Red's house because they had 1 ornament on there and, being a bachelor pad, I knew it wouldn't get decorated anyway. So that was their gift. I went to my grandmother's for dinner and it was... whatever. The side of the family [her sister and husband's family] can be difficult to get along with at times so it's never really a ride in the park to be around them. It was okay though. :] We all met at Roy's after that and were just hanging out. At one point, the ten of us went to Starship... nothing else to do. Later, we left to go to this "party" that turned out to be some high school kid who lived in his aunt's basement. There were probably more high schoolers down there, but David and I never made it past the door. When the middle-aged lady wearing the blue mu-mu answered the door, we kind of knew that it was not our cuppa tea, even though the rest of them went downstairs. So David and I dipped and went to his house and I got to play with his puppy AND eat homemade sweet and sour chicken.... I think I had the most fun that night. They called, finally realizing how lame it was, and we met them to go to some other supposed party but when we got there it was a bust too so we finally just called it quits and headed home. And that was Saturday.

Oh! Except when we got home, I made Red go downstairs and I got all the ornaments I bought and put them all over the tree. Turns out, they didn't even realize it had been decorated until the next night. But whatever, I did some good.

Sunday, we woke up and met Jon and Seve at Gwinnett Place Mall because Seve had to find some lingerie Santa suit and.. there was nothing else to do anyway. I got a present for my mom and the other half of Red's present (while he was there... hah!). Then we went to Discover Mills and were just kind of putzing around. Bass Pro Shops is always fun. :] Didn't see anything else there that I could get for anyone. We left and went back to Red's house because we were all supposed to play poker but a few people didn't show up and I was too tired to have any energy to play anyway. So we just sat around watching TV and that was Sunday.

And so now my sister just texted me and asked me to go to the 5pm WW meeting, which is in 20 minutes. I guess I have to go change out of my pjs now..... damn.

More later.

Oh I Flucked Up

I didn't keep my promise of a blog a day.

Oh well. You can't win them all.

I feel weird today. I heard on the news early today that Brittany Murphy had died... Full cardiac arrest at the age of 32. It just kind of bothers me to see stuff like that. To be so young and have so much life still ahead of you and then just drop in the bathroom and be gone from your husband, parents, siblings, friends.. the world... in the blink of an eye.

Life is scary.

The weekend was pretty eventful but I don't really think I'm in the mood or have the energy to write all about it.

Maybe next time.

[2:00am, I really want some fucking Krystal's right now. It's open 24 hours. It's a mile from my house. And I haven't had enjoyable fast food in two months. [[and by enjoyable I mean where I was sober enough to enjoy it...]] All I ate today/yesterday, since it's late as fluck, was a subway sandwich with chips and a big ass thing of bubble tea. Because I slept the day away and then had to tail Seve at the mall to pick out a lingerie Santa suit, so I didn't eat all day. If it wasn't 30-something degrees outside and if I didn't care about my diet [[which right now, I don't because I did bad all week]] I would be all over that shit. It's almost worth freezing my still-wet hair in the night air and going to get some. UGH this is so hard!]

December 18, 2009

Dec. 18th

So it looks like my physics professor definitely took some pity on me... I got a C+ which is way better than I was expecting. A- in phys lab, B+ in great ideas..... and another C+ in biology.... which I don't understand and I'm really upset about. I thought I had a solid B in there and I know I did well on the final.

I had already prepared my acceptance of a failure in physics.... but not a C in biology.

I was not ready for that..

Can't wait to get my ass chewed the fuck out about that! :D

December 17, 2009

Even though it says Dec. 18.. whatever.

Anyways, so today was filled with more laziness than usual. I actually woke up earlier than I have the past couple of days (2:00 today... 3 or later the other days..) don't judge me. But the day seemed to drag on so much slower. It must be because it's the eve of the weekend. Or the eve of the day before we get grades (vomit.) Or that it's a week away from a real eve, that eve being Christmas Eve.

I have some serious, serious Christmas shopping to do this weekend. Probably not going to get started on it until Saturday though. Tomorrow, my bestie in massage school [the one that made me scream in pain last time] is supposed to practice on me and then we're gonna go for round two of attempting to see The Princess & the Frog. We tried last Friday, the night it premiered, but were beaten to the box office by a bunch of 8 year olds and it was sold out. So we went to dinner instead and tempers flared a bit because of something that got said and done but it's not important now and the rest of the night went uneventfully. So Friday night, Round 2!

I'm thinking about hooking up my old Xbox again. And by old, I mean the original Xbox from like 4 Christmases ago. I don't think I would ever have any luck trying to sell it to anybody so might as well try to get some fun out of it. And I need something else to do during the day besides sit on the YouTube for four hours or stare at my wall [which I actually did today..]

The room could still use a little cleaning but it's at the point where it's clean enough to be presentable for next week. On Christmas Eve, all of my brothers and sisters usually spend the night here and we pile in my room and play board games and stuff... Even though last year was pretty terrible. Last year, as usual, my sisters had been at each others' throats about god only knows what this time so one of them didn't want to spend the night because she was mad at the other one and the other one was playing the victim card and... it's all really complicated. At this point in the year, one of them was just a couple months into AA and was recovering while the rest of my siblings went and got tipsy at my brother's house and then came over to our house... really, it's complicated. Anyway, we all ended up spending the night but when we woke up the next morning we all ended up going and getting our own presents and stuff and putting them out in the living room instead of us coming downstairs and seeing what "Santa" had brought. It's just a depressing part of growing up, I guess... things never stay the same. I hate breaking tradition.

And I totally know that that last paragraph is a complete rant and I normally go proofread a few times before I post but I'm not going to tonight because I know it'll take forever and I'll end up changing everything.

My cousin is staying in the room next to mine and he just sneezed really loud. I didn't know you could hear through the walls so easily. I guess I know what I won't be able to do for the next couple of weeks.....

Anyway. I've recently been getting in touch with my inner nerd by playing this old online game called RuneScape. I was big into it in high school.. well it was an on/off relationship. I would go through spots of time where I would be really hardcore into it and playing it every night and leveling up and stuff and then I would lose interest for a while and then get back into it and so on. It's really a silly game, the kind you could imagine 40 year old virgins sitting at home in their parents' basement who have nothing but this game to live for. That's terrible and hurtful to say, but I know they're out there. The game in a nutshell is that you start off as a wimpy adventurer and you "level up" and increase your skills to go on to become this mega-super fighter and go fight all kinds of beasts and creatures that roam the wild. There are quests that you can do to earn skill points and coins [super awesome, wow!] For people like me, it's really just something to do... as well as get in touch with the nerd in you. It's pretty much my entertainment right now because I'm bored with Mario on the Wii and still have a few weeks left of Christmas break. So bite me.

Scarlett O'Hara

[this blog is intended for Wednesday December 16, 2009]

To further my obsession and love for everything about Gone with the Wind, I've recently come to realize so many more similarities between Scarlett O'Hara and myself. For example, whenever she's faced with a difficult decision, the immediate response is, "Oh I'll just think about that tomorrow!"

In light of this discovery, I absolutely need to go walking. But I'll do it tomorrow!

:]

ps. Yesterday [well, December 15th] was the 70th anniversary of the premiere of Gone with the Wind at Loew's Theatre in Atlanta. Just a fun little fact. :]

December 15, 2009

Progress

You can't tell by looking at it, but I've made a dent in the task of cleaning up my room. Three hours of cleanin' n' Christmas music. It's nice!

My little mini fridge is the only thing bothering my mind tonight. It's the one I used at Berry and the one on-campus semester at Oglethorpe. I brought it home and thought it would be a good idea to put in my room. As time went on, I used it less and less and finally I cleaned everything out of it a few months ago and unplugged it. But forgotten puddle of water inside it + a few months' time= terrible, terrible things. And since I'm deathly allergic to mold, I don't really know what I'm going to do about it, but hopefully dad can get a dolly up here and roll it out to the garage and I'll take care of it later. And by take care of it, I mean take a hose to it from about 50 feet away, Clorox it to death, and store it somewhere else. It's really a rather pain in the ass accessory in my room anyway.

Anyhoooooo. Nothing much to say today. I had a ballin'-ass fun time last night when my one follower came to my house and we balled out.

Speaking of, it really makes me want another milkshake. Except an eggnog one from Sheridan's.

mmmmm.

ps. I'm losing track of the dates that I make all the blogs because I'm still trying to keep up the write-one-everyday goal... Sometimes I do them past midnight so it counts for the next day but it's really not. But I promise I've done one every single day since I said I would.

December 14, 2009

Only 10 Shopping Days Left!

Holy Santa Claus shit, Christmas is next freaking week. When did that happen?

hm.

So I slept until nearly 2:00 today. 'Cause it's Christmas break and I do what I want. Then as soon as I woke up and had a cup of coffee, I got offered a massage because my grammie didn't want hers today. So I got a massage. Then I farted around the house for a couple of hours... well really spent most of those hours on the YouTube [repeat of last night.] Then went to WW, down 3.4 for a total of 18.2 lbs, chyah bro. Even though it definitely does not feel like it. I was bad this week. But anyway, hopefully I'll be making my 20lb quota by Christmas.

And that was pretty much the extent of my day. Having only been awake for 6 1/2 hours, I'd say it was pretty eventful.

I should probably stop sleeping so much and go be productive. I could go work on those goals I made the other day. I haven't started yet, so it's probably in my best interest to get in gear soon.

I could be proactive and go stretch.

Decisions, decisions.

:]

Cat Piss and Double Cleavage

DISCLAIMER: The following entry contains an event with explicit details regarding bodily fluids and functions of a felis domesticus, or more commonly known as a bastard house cat who pisses everywhere and on everything.

As soon as I opened the door into the foyer today, a wall of pungent cat odor smacked me in the face and literally knocked me back a step. Thoroughly disgusted, I walked a few steps down the hallway and the heater blew a draft into my face, laced with the piss smell. I wanted to vom. There was a passage of clean air between the foyer and the kitchen, but once I got in the kitchen a second wave of the smell crashed over. After regaining the briefly lost consciousness, I set my stuff down on my stairs and walked back into the kitchen to find the source of this displeasure. I felt like I was walking through the gas chamber that they make people go through in boot camp, except I didn't get a gas mask. I couldn't find it but then I had a bigger dilemma. Having not eaten anything yet today, I was starting to get a rumbly in my tummy. But in order to fix it, I would have to a) find something to eat, and b) eat it in the kitchen because I don't want bugs in my room. So I found some frozen stuff that I threw in the microwave and, as gross and nasty and crippling as it was, I ate my lunch with the cat piss smell wafting around my head. New high or low?

ps. this is how my dad deals with these kinds of situations. Guess who never changed my diaper as a baby?

Anyway, so I ate in peace and never found the source(s) of the stench but I did march straight upstairs to take a shower immediately afterwards. Just in case.

So yesterday I totally forgot to mention the events of Friday night, which would have still made the update a day late, but it's better late than never, right? Anyway, so Friday night we were at Roy's house and all the guys were there and stuff. I left kind of early because I was bored because I couldn't drink and because watching the same four people play four games of beer pong gets old quick. The next morning, I see status updates about "the guys got caught by the man," and "yep, that just happened." So I could only imagine....... Turns out, after I left they all went to Steak n' Shake and something happened (I can't get a straight story out of anybody) but a big fight broke out between Roy and Jon and another one of their friends and Roy and Jon ended up spending the night at DeKalb. Red and David's asses were thisclose to going with them too if they hadn't had enough sense to leave when they saw punches being thrown... granted they had stay for a bit to do their manly-man duties and make sure the guys didn't need backup.... Apparently it was, like, 8 guys against Roy, Jon, and the other dude. But whatever. It's their own fault. I'm just glad I didn't stick around long enough to get dragged into going too.

Earlier Friday evening, I discovered a new talent. It's kind of like in the Dane Cook movie Good Luck Chuck, that girl that has the three boobs thing.

Not even kidding.

I don't have my glasses on

Or my contacts in. Because I'm cuddled up in bed with red. And because my glasses are in my car, which is outside, which is effing cold and rainy, and I don't wanna go get them.

And I'm all hopped up on homemade rice krispies and eggnog and rum.

And it's late. And I'm sleepy. And I need to go harvest some chili before bed.

December 11, 2009

brrrrrrrrr..

if it's gonna stay this cold, then it needs to snow.

Anyway, so one of the promises I made was to make a blog entry every day. I now realize that this could be potentially problematic seeing as I won't be getting home until later on most Fridays and Saturdays...

We'll just have to see how it goes.

Today I went super dramatic with my hair.

Think paprika, because that's what the name of the dye is.

And that's about the extent of my day.

And Christmas Break Begins...

So I managed the survive the forty-four hours of being Facebook free. I must say, it really wasn't all that bad. I've gone longer without it before, when I was in North Carolina for a car show back in September. We were staying at the top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere and there was no cell phone service or internet available. Coming off the mountain, you got dumped into a little valley town where the mountain was and there still was no phone service so I had nothing except my books for school that whole weekend. And the swine. [not really, but it was a bad chest cold for a few days]

But in reflection of the nearly two days of being awol from FB, I came to realize how much I really don't care about what a number of the people on there have to say. Most of the time, the people I find that are even worth talking to aren't the ones who update their statuses (stati?) about 182365817621 times per day anyway. Granted I did use to be one of those passionate statusers, I eventually came to realize how silly and obnoxious it is to tell 500 people exactly where you are and what you are doing that many times in a day. That's why I've never really been an avid updater on Twitter, although I do compulsively check it to see TwitPics and DailyBooths from Philip DeFranco and ShayCarl, my two most favorite people on YouTube ☺

Anywho.

I survived finals week without wanting to go jump off of Stone Mountain... Thank you Xanax and Adderall!

No but really, I'm glad this semester is over. Even though next semester is going to be practically identical to this one. And by that I mean this:
Fall 09:
Physics 101 (gag.)
Physics 101 Lab
Biology 101
Biology 101 Lab
Core 203

Spring 10:
Physics 102 (provided I passed with a C- or better... which I said was doubtful before and the final reinforced it. gag again.)
Physics 102 Lab
Biology 102
Biology 102 Lab
Core 202
Chemistry 102 Lab (oh boy! there's some variation!)

cant wait...

I'm looking forward to starting school. I know that you should take a break and rest your body and nerves from the stresses of college, but I do look forward to starting already.

The only thing that I won't be looking forward to is losing the momentum. It's an inevitable thing, for me at least. I love starting new things and I especially love finishing them... but 9 times out of 10, I'll start a new task with all that fresh energy and will hit a slump about midway through and it slides downhill from there so that by the end of it all, I'm exhausted and grumpy and willing to do anything to just finish it and get it out of my face. That's a pretty typical action-reaction that happens every semester.

I think it's pretty routine for any big task, though...

My "dieting"/life change thing is the most in-my-face example of that right now. Back during the week of Halloween, my stepsister and I joined WeightWatchers because when I started tipping the scale at 30 lbs. heavier than I was senior year, I knew I had to change something. So we started and I escalated... for about 4 weeks. I lost four lbs the first week, nearly four the next week, and every week since then has been a loss of 1+ lbs. Then the momentum started wearing away right about the time Thanksgiving rolled around. And it wasn't even Thanksgiving that was my problem day... it was the three and a half days, filled with friends and wine and steak n' shake and stuff, that followed. To make a long story short and keep this rant to only two deviations away from the intended topic, Thanksgiving led me back into my old ways of not caring what I put in my mouth and it's since been an uphill battle to get back on track.

The moral of THAT story is that I should probably figure out a better way to handle getting a handle on things. And not losing my focus. Eyes on the prize, baby.

For now, I'm going to do some short-term goal setting. These goals are ones that I hope to accomplish over the next month, and then on January 10, 2010 (holy shit, when did 2010 happen?!?), I'll give myself an evaluation to see how well I could stick to them and how I handled myself getting there.

Goals:
1. Write a blog every single day. It can be long-winded and ranty like all of them have been so far, or they can just be a one-liner of something. I'm thinking that, if anything, maybe it'll sharpen my literary skills so I can write some bomb-ass MCAT essays when the time comes. The only excused absence for a blog is when there is an instance where my laptop/internet is unavailable and I have absolutely no means of getting either of them.
2. By the time school starts, I want to have lost another ten pounds, putting me at a total of 24.8. My long term goals for that whole adventure is 20 by Christmas, 40 by my birthday, 60 by the time next fall semester starts, and 80 by Halloween. But that's a work in progress..
3. Stretch. I've been fussed at by the athletic trainers at school about how hideously inflexible I am and that I need to be stretching everyday.... They told me this in September. Of 2008. Then the other day, my bestie in massage school told me the same thing after she made me scream while doing whatever sadistic bastard move they wanted her to practice on me. Plus I hear it has calming benefits. :]
4. Make cupcakes for Christmas. I love how this one follows after the losing-weight one... But really, I bought a cupcake decorating book this past summer and starting really getting into doing it... then that downhill momentum thing kicked in and I stopped doing them. So this Christmas, at least just this once, I want to be able to start and finish a project like that.
5. Clean my effing room. And car. You'd think that my OCD complex would have smacked me in the face before I let them get this out of control but DAMN. Okay, in all honesty, they aren't as bad as they have been in the past, but they both are just two more things that I hate to have to look at and worry about because clutter and dirtiness stress me out. So they're being taken out, possibly as early as tomorrow.

I think five is a good number to start with for the first month. I'll update as the progress of them... progresses.

Acceptance

At this point, I feel like all I ever do is bitch and moan about school and I swear I'm not doing it to try and get pity or sympathy. I genuinely do not know how to handle my feelings and problems except complain about them and hope they go away, so I'm sorry. I know listening to me complaining all the time gets tiring because I can hear and see it in the ones I talk to about it, but it's all I know how to do.

So here goes. All of yesterday and a good portion of the wee hours of this morning were spent studying my ass off for the two finals I had today. And I have a good feeling that it will pay off.

The bio final was worth 200 points and consisted of 100 multiple choice questions, 20 or so short answers (which is really just taking the two terms given and doing a compare/contrast on them), and 4 essays. The multiple choices were easy for the most part, with less than a handful that were truly guesses. The short answers went well, seeing that I knew at least some relevant facts to ramble about so none were left blank... and partial credit is better than none at all. The essays, on the other hand.... Well, I'll just say that I'm happy they were only worth 40 of the 200 points. I stumbled on 3 of them and wound up leaving one completely blank, but I truthfully had no clue where to even begin that topic. The other 3 were, again, rambling about kinda-sorta relevant ideas that will hopefully pose some partial credit. So that's only 10 points that are guaranteed missing.

Great Ideas went alright too. Again, there were only a couple of instances where I had to guess. None were left blank, and the same hope applies here... partial credit is better than nothing.

So with two down and one to go, I'm preparing to walk into class tomorrow and take every stab and cut that this test is going to do to me. There's no point in beating around the bush anymore with this class. Although, up until Monday I did honestly think that I may have been able to pull a decent grade out of my ass but after the day's fiasco, it became a hopeless case. At this point there are no pep talks of you-can-do-it's and just-think-positively's that will change anything. There's a better chance of a snowball lasting in hell than there is in me passing this class... at least with the required C- or better. That being said, when grades come in and there is no C- or better under Physics, I won't have a meltdown and go off crying myself into hysterics. I'm prepared to gracefully accept my defeat.

This could be potentially problematic when it comes time for summer school. One of the [sarcastic] perks of attending a school of less than 800 students is the limited availability of classes, especially in summer. To make the story simple, next summer Organic Chemistry is offered M-Th at 8:00am and Physics is offered M-Th at 8:00am. Oglethorpe has a strict policy that does not allow summer classes to be taken at any other institution unless, for whatever reason, it is not offered here. If I do not get either of those classes done on time, I can take on another semester of graduation postponement. You do the math.

But we'll cross that bridge when we get there. :]

On a brighter note, I got $85 from the bookstore buyback and got offered a potential work-study job in the nurse's office for next semester.

It could be worse.

Well now that I have a follower...

I guess I'll have to give this blog thing a real shot. Might as well while I have a break to rest my brain from studying.

So. Today started off decent, for a Monday. Then I had to go take my physics extra-credit-test-retake-thingy. My professor, Dr. Rulison, told us to take the last test and the key and just look over and study that and the extra credit problems would be similar.

Except not.

To make a long story short, neither of the problems were anything like the ones I had studied the night before so I pretty much made up a bunch of stuff and walked out of the room with my tail between my legs and a dunce cap on my head.

It's approximately 20 miles from Oglethorpe to my house. I cried for about 19.8 of them. Mainly because I was so disappointed and frustrated with myself. I haven't been doing very well in physics anyway and I needed this extra push. Originally, we were to have three tests and a final, but Dr. Rulison's son got really sick right before Thanksgiving and has had him busy away from school... Busy, as in, two cancelled lectures and a cancelled third test. The whole situation is completely understandable, but I was banking on the third test to help weigh out my average, provided I did well on it.

So with two tests failed and a final to go, things are looking pretty dim right now. The only thing my grade has going for itself in that class is the homework average, which accounts for 40% of the final grade and is averaging at an A right now. Even with that and, at best, a high B/low A on the final, I would still come out of the class with a C, at best. Which is totally fine by me at this point... not so much for my parents but that will just have to be another big blowout argument that I can blog about later. :D

Anyway, so the day went on. I came home and went straight to my bedroom because I didn't want anybody to see my bloodshot eyes and streaky face because I knew questions would be raised and, frankly, I don't like talking to my parents about school. It always ends with me getting hysterical and it turning into a huge argument and I wasn't in the mood for a confrontation.

So, after four hours of biology, a power nap, a WW meeting (down 14.8lbs :), dinner, and two hours of Great Ideas, here we stand. The afternoon, surprisingly, has been a calm one... the calm before the storm.

The biology final is from 8-11 tomorrow morning. Great ideas trails right behind it from 11:15-2:15. I'm not terribly worried about Great Ideas, mainly because it's not a cumulative final and the stuff that will be on it tomorrow is easy. Dr. Nardo never deviates from the type of problems assigned and he's offering a 3% increase to the final grade, provided the student has perfect attendance... which I have. So all I'm hoping for is a B. Biology poses a slightly larger concern, primarily because it's my major and I kinda-sorta need to do well in that class. Dr. Schadler's methods of grading are a little bit different than most professors, but I don't know the exact range of values that constitute an A, B, and so on. Again, only hoping for a B.

(ps. at this point I'm just going to stop and say that this whole spilling my feelings and events of the day feels extremely weird. Just so you know MURPH.... )

Sooooo... it's getting late and I still need to go do some bio stuff... then waking up at the ass crack of dawn to tackle this mess... hum-de-dum.

Yup. That's pretty much how I feel about Christmas season.
