10:45 pm
When I said that last week was hell week, I lied and really meant that this week is hell week.
I literally sat for 8 hours at the table today studying for the lab practical tomorrow. I woke up this morning actually feeling confident that I would be able to get all the readings and stuff done at a reasonable hour. And I pretty much have. I've read everything at least once (I mean it's half a semesters' worth of 4-7 page long labs) and all I have left is to look over the diagrams in the manual. I'm planning on reading over everything again at least once tonight and a couple of times tomorrow morning.
But it's just that feeling again. I was talking to Red about it earlier... I don't typically display test anxiety physically. My mind is usually going 100 mph until I dive into the test... then it breaks even. I don't particularly think it's how I study... granted I'd give up a Friday and Saturday night to go out than stay in and study. I know, I've seen me do it. But when I do sit down to study, I get nose to the grind focused on it. Part of my problem, I believe, isn't so much the inability to retain information but rather WHICH information I retain. Because it seems like it's usually the irrelevant stuff that I can recall. I guess that's just part of the fun of the guessing game on college exam day.
I should be getting the Physics test back tomorrow. Awesome way to start Monday.... I won't look at it until after I get home so if I start crying, I can just hop in the shower and let it out.
Wednesday, there is a Chemistry Lab midterm. This is another nerve wrecker because I don't know what to expect from this new professor. I'm crossing my fingers that it is somewhat easier than Dr. A's. So far the reports have been easy to understand and do. But I just don't know.
Thursday, there's another Bio lecture quiz. I'm pretty sure I did fairly terribly on the one last week because, frankly, I forgot there was one until about 11pm the night before. I was too preoccupied with Physics and I forgot. So I'll need to get on that asap.
... I was totally gonna do goals this week in a form of a day-by-day itinerary, but it's too exhausting. And I'm tired.
So I'll just leave it at the fact that we added to the zoo today with a puppy. He's a 5 1/2 month old chihuahua, white with a few caramel spots on his back and his name is Casper and he is the sweeeeeeeeeetest thing ever.
The last puppy we got was on August 31 (June-bug/the-baby-dog)... The only reason I remember that is cause it was the day Matt & Zac left for boot camp and I was thoroughly distraught all day. Then I came home and there was a puppy on the floor. :] So the longest my stepmother can go without adding a new pet is 6 months.
not including the frogs.

It's Bad Decision Friday!
11:50am
So many bad decisions were made this morning....
1) It took me until 8:20 to decide to get out of bed and go to my 9:00 class.
2) I did not eat breakfast or drink any coffee
3) I opted out of a bra... a very bad decision.
4) I wore a shirt that plainly makes me look like I'm not wearing a bra
5) Out of sheer laziness and partly because I was running late, I put on flip flops... when it's like 28 degrees outside.
6) I did not bother to put on any deodorant because it was one short class
7) I didn't pee upon waking up
Well that's the gist of it at least.
Happy Friday!

Uhoh.
10:18am
It's that time of year again.
Physics test time.
And from what I've heard so far, I'm about to go fail the living shit out of it.
One guy said it took him nearly 5 hours and he left two of them blank. (There's only 7 questions)
Another girl said that she left one blank too, after three hours.
greeeeeeeat.

1:11pm
I think that must be what getting raped in the ass with a cactus, over a fire, and with Rick Astley playing in the background feels like.
That was unnecessary, but it was pretty brutal.
Chem Lab time, AWESOME.
not.

7:36 pm
mmmmmmm I love El Tap Wednesdays.
So I've figured it out. The next couple of weeks are going to be pretty brutal. I had my Physics test today which, indeed, ripped me a new one. And since I'm clearly not the only one who had trouble with it, Dr. Rulison will (hopefully) give us some extra credit to come in and do. Next Monday I have a Bio lab practical/midterm that is work a pretty significant chunk of the final grade. Then Wednesday, I have a Chem lab midterm. Sometime soon after that (I can feel it in my bones) there will be the dreaded oral presentation for Core.
I guess I need to go start making flash cards for Monday.

A wintry mix is in the forecast for tomorrow :(
10:34am
Nothing like a dose of good 'ol Core to nearly knock me back to sleep. At least we got out early so I could go stretch my legs and walk over to the library.
Physics test in the AM. I haven't quite gotten to freakout point yet, but I can feel it coming. It will be here by at least this evening.
I need more coffee.
***
1:06pm
I have a throbbing headache, which is all the more reason to not want to go to Physics Lab.
Goddammit.
Today I've realized that I've stalled long enough on making this blog into a study aid to the point where I don't want to do that anymore. Well, false, I do want to do it still, but so far I seem to be getting more satisfaction out of using it to bitch and moan about stuff instead.
Besides, that recall thing in that Cornell system of taking notes has never worked for me... wouldn't this basically be the same thing?

kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species
repeat.
10:55am
Actually if all we had to memorize were the kingdoms, phyla, and so on, this lab practical would be easy as fluck.
I don't have much time to write anything because I have a strict schedule for today because there is so much to do.
And I have to go poop.

woooooo Massage Mondays! It was a little bit of a surprise but I came home and got offered one of the afternoon massages... yeeeeah!
And I got an 83 on my Bio test. yeeeeeah!
And I'm in a really, really good mood right now. yeeeeeah!

Sunday Night Jitters
I feel silly, but Sunday nights seem to be having a recurring theme. It's those damn nerves.
Again, I feel silly.
I've always dealt with nerves of some form or another when it comes to going to school. Always. They aren't completely terrible on Sunday nights because on Sunday nights, I at least still have the rest of the evening and night to enjoy not being at school. The butterflies start kicking into overdrive when I pull into the Goslin parking lot. I don't have a real good reason that I can think of to blame these nerves on, but here's a few I can list:
>> I admit, I don't have many friends at Oglethorpe. I didn't at Berry either, and it was much worse then. But I don't, and that's the plain and simple truth. It doesn't bother me, though. Social situations terrify me more than the upcoming oral presentation in Core. The thing is, I am completely okay with it because I prefer being alone and having my distance anyways. So I always get nervous that I may be thrown into a social situation, which then throws me into panic mode. [[ie. last week I went down into the lounge to help one of my brothers with his lab report and there was another guy down there who happens to be the son of my chemistry professor. For whatever reason it might have been, halfway through helping him I could feel my skin start to burn and could feel myself getting red. Sure enough, when I left and headed to my car I looked in the mirror and I was absolutely COVERED in red hive splotches. Caused by nerves. All I can say is thank god I had a scarf that I could wrap around my neck and chest until I left.]]
>> I'm always afraid that I'll do or say something stupid in class. If there is one thing that I hate in the world more than anything is being laughed at, but usually only by people who I'm not really good friends with [I mean, it's completely different when I'm around my best friends and do something stupid and we all have a laugh... I still turn beet red with embarrassment, but it's better than getting laughed at by strangers.] This particular fear of doing something stupid usually happens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when I have Physics and Chemistry lab. Physics lab scares me for a list of reasons that would be suitable for a-whole-nother blog. Chemistry lab scares me because it often tends to deal with flammable chemicals and fire. And because I had a traumatic experience with high school Chemistry so all around, I just kind of hate it.
>> I have tests coming up that I am terrified of. Physics is one of them. I'm terrified because last semester, the highest grade I made on any of the tests was, like, a 50 or something. Even though I came out of the class with a C+. I have a lab quiz in Biology, which isn't bad because it's open note and open book and we (supposedly) are going to get to work together on it too. Then a lecture quiz, but that shouldn't be terrible either. I just have a shit-ton of work to do in order to prepare for them. Next Monday, however, I have a lab practical which is a big deal and there's so much material to cover. You just wait until next Sunday night.... oh boy.
>> We're dissecting frogs tomorrow. I mean come the freak on, I've been dissecting stuff for the past three weeks and I'm used to the smell and the grossness. I dunno. I just get really nervous. Again.
That's all I can really think of as far as reasons why I get so nervous so easily, but I'm sure if I wasn't getting anxious about doing work and stuff tonight I could think of more.
Bah. I need to quit being so whiny all the time.

Tired of winter.
10:00 am
Supposedly, the temperature is getting up to 60 degrees this weekend. I can only cross my fingers...... I'm very much ready for summertime.
This morning I got on Facebook and saw a status from one of my mom's friends ('cause I'm FB friends with her high school friends and all... I'm just THAT cool....) and it said that another one of their friends had a heart attack. I was really upset by this because this particular friend is one of the sweetest and funniest guys ever. Plus, he was only 40 years old.
A few months ago, I met a whole slew of the people that my mom grew up skating with. At a bar. It was terribly fun because her drunk friends seem more fun that my drunk friends. That night, I met the guy who had the heart attack [his name is Mark] and it was soon obvious that he was the life of the party back then because he sure as hell was the life of the party that night.
So I was really upset to hear that news this morning.
Today after I got out of Physics, I had total intentions of going for my walk around campus... but when I got out to the Quad, aside from the bitter cold wind blowing, I realized that a lot more students were out and about than usual. Probably because it's getting close to midterms (jesus, already??) and they decided to actually go to class today. And, as usual, I didn't want to make my presence noticeable by aimlessly walking around campus, so I'm just skipping it today. I know I'll regret it. It's too damn cold anyway.
My stepsister's grandfather died a couple of days ago and the memorial service is tonight, so I have to go to that. I'll probably go to hell for saying this, but I don't want to miss El Tap tonight for a funeral for a man I never met and whose family I am not related to, neither by marriage nor by blood.
We'll see how it goes.
I have some homework that I should probably do. It's nothing completely overwhelming and I don't have any pressing matters to get done for any classes. There's a Physics test next Wednesday and I made a goal to study for it every single day for a week leading up to the test, so there's some stuff I could do for it. I read the lab handout for Chemistry last night so maybe this week we won't screw it up as bad.
So I'm thinking that I'm gonna take it easy today. Not completely slack off like it's the weekend, but definitely not stress about responsibilities that aren't due for a few days. So I brought my PSP to school today. Gonna work on beating Spyro. Again.
:D

And in a bad mood because my Core prof. emailed us and told us that our oral presentations will begin next week.
